Jet Ski Rental in Miami by the Half Hour or the Hour

Jet ski rental in Miami with Yacht Charter Advisor starts at $90 for 30 minutes and $150 for 1 hour, and each price covers one jet ski with up to 2 people on it. Send your date and group, and a charter advisor confirms the available operator, start point and final terms before you pay anything.

  • Two lengths, one rate per jet ski. Ride for 30 minutes at $90 or for 1 hour at $150. The rate is for the jet ski, so one rider or two pay the same.
  • Free riding or a guided route. This page is about riding on your own. A guided ride has its own prices, shown in the table below.
  • Florida sets the rules. You rent at 18, you drive from 14, and anyone driving who was born on or after January 1, 1988 needs a boater safety ID. The full list is further down the page.
  • A start point you can plan around. Your advisor names the start point when the operator is confirmed, before you pay anything.
  • Booking terms. A 30% prepayment holds your ride, cancelling up to 24 hours ahead is free under our terms, and bad weather means a new date or a refund.

Florida Jet Ski Rental Rules on Age, Boater ID and Safety Gear

Florida law decides who can rent and ride a jet ski, and Florida sets the minimums, and each operator may add its own limits. You rent at 18, you drive from 14, and a driver born on or after January 1, 1988 carries a boater safety ID. Here is the short list to check before you send your date.

  • Age to rent: 18. A rental operator may not knowingly rent a jet ski to anyone under 18.
  • Age to drive: 14. State law lets a 14-year-old operate a jet ski. For riders aged 14 to 17, ask us, because it depends on the operator.
  • Boater safety ID. If you drive and were born on or after January 1, 1988, you need a boater safety ID card or a temporary certificate valid for 90 days. A boater course from another state can count if it meets the national standard, and your advisor tells you what the operator accepts. Our Florida jet ski license guide explains each step.
  • Photo ID. Rental operators ask for a photo ID, so bring one.
  • Safety gear. A life jacket on every person on the jet ski, and the engine cut-off lanyard clipped to the driver.
  • Daylight only. No riding from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise.

Breaking these rules is a noncriminal infraction, and the default fine is $100. This is a summary, not legal advice. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) publishes the official rules.

Miami Jet Ski Rental Questions Answered

How much does it cost to rent a jet ski in Miami?

Pick 30 minutes at $90 or 1 hour at $150 per jet ski, with up to 2 people on it. A guided ride is $160 for 1 hour or $300 for 2 hours. For a longer outing, choose the 2-hour guided ride, or add a jet ski to a yacht day for $160 an hour.

Do I need a boating license to rent a jet ski in Florida?

Florida asks a driver born on or after January 1, 1988 for a boater safety ID card or a temporary certificate valid for 90 days. Rental operators also ask for a photo ID. Our license guide walks through it.

How old do you have to be to rent a jet ski in Florida?

You must be 18 to rent, and driving starts at 14 under state law. If a rider is 14 to 17, ask us first, because it depends on the operator. Florida has no minimum passenger age in its jet ski rules, and the operator sets age and weight limits for passengers.

Can two people ride one jet ski?

Yes. Each jet ski takes up to 2 people, and one price covers the jet ski, not each rider. Everyone on board wears a life jacket, and the driver clips on the engine cut-off lanyard.

What is included in the rental price?

Under our terms, the price includes fuel, life jackets and tax, and your advisor confirms this with the operator before you pay. Bring a photo ID, and ask your advisor what to wear and what else to bring.

Do I need a reservation for a jet ski rental in Miami?

Send your date and group first, so an advisor can confirm an available operator. A 30% prepayment holds the ride, and cancelling up to 24 hours ahead is free under our terms. If the weather is bad, the ride moves to a new date or you get a refund.

Where can I rent a jet ski near me in Miami?

The start point depends on the operator available for your date, and your advisor names it before you pay anything. Staying elsewhere? See Miami Beach or Fort Lauderdale.

Can I rent a jet ski together with a yacht?

Yes. A jet ski added to a yacht day is $160 for an hour, for up to 2 riders. Ask for it with your yacht date, and the advisor confirms the details. Read more on yacht rental with a jet ski, or see a plain boat rental in Miami.
